The museum of Russian art in Kiev is a public museum that is located on Tereshchenkovskaya Street 9. It was founded on November 12, 1922. The museum has many departments. Here are some of them: ancient Russian period (XVIII-XIX), soviet period, art, sculpture, graphics, the artistic Providence. There are more than 30 rooms, the collection has more than 12 000 pieces of art. Among the most ancient works - the icon of pre-Mongolian period "Boris and Gleb", the monument created in Novgorod in the end of XII - the first half of XIII centuries. The Russian art of pre-soviet period is presented in the paintings by Levitsky, Tropinina, Serova, Perova, Makovskiy, Vasnetsova, Repina, Vereshchagina, Vrumbel, Shushkin etc. the soviet art is represented with the works by painters: Ioganson, Gerasimov, Chyikova and sculptors Shadr, Koltsov.
