The Water Information Center (the Museum of Water) – is the information center in Kiev, created by Kiev State administration on May 24, 2003 in the building of former first Centralized Water supply. The tower where the entrance to the establishment is situated was built in 1876 and was restored in 2003 according to existing sketches. The nearby tower, which was ruined in 1939-40th was restored according to same ancient sketches. The main exposition is located in the building of former underground reservoir of clean fresh water, built in 1909. The author of the exposition is designer from Denmark Karsten Moller. The exposition gives you the opportunity to find out about water in a non-traditional way, to get to know about the process of making water ready for use, the methods of traditional use of water in every day life, to travel along the sewage collector to the cleaning constructions of Bortnitskaya aeration station. During the excursion you will get to know about the process of creation of the centralized water supply in the city, which was opened on March 1, 1872. Also you will find out a lot of interesting facts about Kiev water supply in general. You can see the authentic exhibits of 18th-19th century. In the museum you can witness the process of melting of glaciers, the creation of rain and the eruption of geysers. You can also change the flow of the river on the sketch, play with huge soap bubbles, check out your strength on water pump, check out live fish – Japanese carps.
