The Teatralna square is located in Shevchenkovskiy district in Kiev, between the Vladimirska Street and the National Opera and Ballet theatre of Ukraine. The square was created in XIX century and first it didn’t have a name. The current name was attributed in 1869 as it was the square in front of the city theatre built here in 1856. Before 1939 it had a different name – Lysenko square. From 1940s till 1982 it was connected by stairs with the Lysenko Street. On the square you can see the Opera theatre, the monument to Mikhail Grushevskiy, the building of central Rada, monument to Nikolay Lysenko.
