The Pokrovskiy monastery in Kiev - the orthodox Convent in Kiev eparchy of Ukrainian Orthodox Church (The Patriarchate of Moscow).
Variants: Kievo-Pokrovskiy monastery, the monastery of the Patronage [Intercession] of the Most Holy Queen.
It is located in Kiev, Bekhterevskiy side-street 15.
It was founded on January 11, 1889 by grand duchess Aleksandra Petrovna. In 1881 the grand duchess Aleksandra Petrovna was ousted from her house by her husband. She left Petersburg and found accommodation in Kiev. Here she implemented her lifetime dream - monastic community.
She had a thought of creating not only a monastic community but also a hospital for poor, where the monks would be nurses and could help doctors.
The grand duchess Aleksandra Petrovna died in the monastery on April 13, 1900 but they are still incarnating her ideas into life.
