The Kiev National theatre of Operetta is a light opera theatre in Kiev. It was founded in 1934 as a state theatre of musical comedy in USSR. Since 1966 the theatre has been called the Kiev state theatre of operetta. Since 2004 it has been called Academic theatre. In 2009 it was attributed the status of national. Today the theatre stages musicals, musical plays, show programs along with traditional and popular operettas. Almost every year the company of actors prepares new premiere play (sometimes even more than one).
