The colonnade of the Vorontsovsky Palace – is the must-see in Odessa. It is located on the Primorsky Boulevard near the Vorontsovsky Palace and the Teshin (the Mother-in-Law) bridge. It is one of the most popular places in Odessa.
The colonnade was created and built by Italian architect F.K.Boffo in 1826.
The colonnade is one of the most visited places in Odessa. At first it used to be the greenhouse where many tropical fruit was grown. One of the legends is connected with this colonnade. There is a hidden door in it from the sea side of the construction.
There was a restaurant there in the previous century. The owner of the restaurant was a very famous slave master. He made his clients drunk and leaded them through the entrance to the catacombs. Then they were taken on the Turkish ships that brought them to the slave markets.
